Any Interest In Unix/linux In Macworld Forum

Hi,
I recently tried Terminal and opened a huge can of worms. So much to learn and do.
There is much written about using Linux and many of them address Linux via OSX, but
not too many address the "stupid and obvious" problems of newbies.
Do you know of a thread on these forums, or other forums, that might be of help?
My current question is: how can I change the prompt on X11 terminal to show my
current location in the file hierarchy?
Cheers, Wwlad.

Hi Wwlad,

Can't help you, sorry. I've been a Mac user all these years because I'm allergic to that sort of thing!

I hope someone will come along with an answer shortly,

Cheers,

P

I can't recall how to change the prompt but the command pwd will show the current path
Common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it most never use it.

Thank you for your suggestions. The link Ken Gracey provided was helpful and lead to other links, etc.
The main solution to my problem was in leaving the X11 terminal and using the OSX native (Aqua) terminal.
The more I use my Macbook, the more I am impressed. Why did I ever swap my Commodore 64 for a
Dos 3.1 machine???
Cheers, Wwl
