I think we need to liven up the forum somewhat, a new injection of subscribers might be swayed by the offer of a AMW / Niche give away!

I know we have the normal stuff from the magazine but what about something forum specific on a weekly basis ?

There are a lot of lookers but not too many participate in the discussions.

Let's liven this sucker up......any ideas?????

We have a major event coming up, why not start something along with a correct guess of what's going to be offered for forum members

Ideas ???

Mick :) :) :)

By memory when the the prize for the router was up for grabs, I did notice a hell of a lot more 1st time posters trying for it, has the stats shown there are significant rises in people becoming members or subscribers of the forum/magazine via these competitions.

I can remember when i first joined Macworld ages ago, you know, when they had podcasts and so on, i was reading a post ,I think it was around the time when a survey was conducted and you were offered a chance of a random prize if you answered all the questions. I can vividly remember seeing in a post a conversation between a couple of members that their was a guy who won a macbook or macbook pro from a previous Macworld competition and was never seen or heard from again, did he end up popping up again anywhere?

Was that you Golfer..... please do tell the story, i tried looking through old posts but couldn't find it.

Anyway, I think Mick's on the right track ,maybe (weekly or fortnightly) prizes through out the year, you could always leave a major prize till the end of the year if one was offered, however to be eligible for it you will need to be a participant through out the year in the mini competitions which involve topics in the mag and parts of the forum and so on.

In past posts there was mention of this, I think, (guess the parts of a particular Mac or Apple product) could be a mix of new and old maybe.

It's a long time ago Jim, back in the days of MJCP. Can't remember exactly which notebook it was, may have even been the first Air. The competition was announced, a heap of newbies registered and one of them was announced as the winner. The prize was delivered and it was suggested in the forums that he go on a podcast episode to talk about his win, given that he never bothered to contribute after his registration post. That didn't happen and never heard from him since.

Yes it was an air, and I foolishly told him, I would buy him a DVD drive for it to help put his school work on it, but luckily for me, he cleared off, before he gave me his delivery address :P
