I do think that we have to stop idolizing people. It could be dangerous.
Steve Jobs was a fantastic innovator and ahead of his time. He should be liked for what he was.
Stopping the speculating because it is so highly relative and from one's own perspective all the time. In other words we describe our environment and people around us according to OUR description of the world. That can be very narrow minded and erroneous.

I watched a re run of him again last night on cable and to be honest it was still a great watch.
Just hope it never gets to the point of what they have done with Elvis or on the lines of that anyway.
Unfortunately we humans do the worst to the living and ones past when there is a buck to be made.

I reckon Steve is destined to be a po-culture icon, like Che Guevara or Albert Einstein. And I don't think there's anything anyone can do about it.
In some ways I like the fact that Steve's the new icon, rather than, say, Bill Gates.
Cheers

Dave, why do you like Steve Jobs as a new icon, instead of Bill Gates? What is the difference?

I suppose it's the fact that he and his company were written off by nay-sayers more than once, Peggy, but managed to come through and pretty much change the world.
There's still the aura of rebelliousness and coolness about them that Microsoft never had.

When Steve came back, Apple were, what, something like two months away from being out of business. They briefly overtook Exxon as the most valuable company before he died.
You might not know it to look at me, but I'm pretty radical.

I guess I have to agree with that.
Steve is not as uptight as Bill Gates and kind of cool, easy , relaxed image. But, is it not the perception that he wanted to create in order to emerge as one of the best selling company in the world? or am I cynical? Tho, there is nothing wrong with this sort of marketing also, given that the products were and are always rated as tops!
