Bioshock, the popular first-person shooter first released in mid 2007, will debut on the Mac on October 7.

Have you played it on other platforms? Is it worth waiting for? Will you buy the Mac version?

Have played the demo on the PS3 and it was awesome, it will definitely be interesting to see how it looks and runs on the Mac.

One of the best games. Ever. A good reason to replace my iMac with something gruntier. I'm sure Bioshock will need it.

Chris may have forgotten that you'll be trying it on your Mac Pro!

thanx for the great news,i cant wait for it,there is not much in the way of first person shooters for the mac platform,so this is good news for me,call of duty was the best i found so far, with quake as an option but a little tiring after a while, good one for that,

I downloaded the demo the other day, can't say it really grabbed me. It was fun but I'm not in any hurry to get the full version.

The combat was the most annoying thing, I could never switch weapons fast enough to take multiple enemies on at once. It didn't really matter though because their attacks were so pissweak I could take as long as I wanted.

BTW, I was playing on easy. I like to play on easy first to get feel for things, then go up to hard once I know the levels back to front.

The part I enjoyed most was searching cadavers for stuff but the fun quickly drained from the game once I filled up my pockets with EVE and first aid kits.

I'll give it another go on hard and see what it's like but I'm not in a hurry to get the full version.

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it. Knowing the game from PS3, you shouldn't see it as a simple shooter. It's more immersive than that. You have to give it a chance to grow on you. Literally.

I, too, d/ld the demo but my current Mac isn't up to the task. A bad match-up with the video card. Should have a loaner iMac tomorrow. Will give it a try on that.

Oh no, don't get me wrong. I'm not dismissing it or anything, I'm going to have another crack at it but it didn't really excite me to use a marketing expression.

Yep. Still one of the best games made. Even better on a Mac, actually.

It's ripe for a sequel.

Surprisingly, I found the final boss battle with Fontaine harder on the Mac than on PS3, until I employed a different tactic at the third stage when the splicers join in the battle.
