Is Ios 6 Coming In June.

There is a bit of a mumble around today, that various sites are getting visits from somebody at apple testing iOS 6. Does this mean apple is secretly testing iOS 6 internally and are going to spring it on us in June ? A few sites are speculating that this just might be the case..

What's does everybody think, we will see a beta of ios 6 or the real deal ?

Yeah I said when the announced WWDC that we'd at least see a preview of ios 6. Makes perfect sense since its the developers conference.

When was 5 released? Doesn't need to be linked to product releases now so very possible. Like JZ says, at least a preview.

I think the 4 series will be ok, but I think if you have a series, you could be in a spot of trouble.

Did you mean to say 3 series Ken?

I can't imagine being in trouble, surely we'll be grandfathered the same way all those who have chosen not to update OSX will be. I 'd hate to think my Apps became redundant just because my phone couldn't have it's system updated.

In my mind it's a $900 computer and I expect more than three years service life out of it. I suspect that the ACCC might agree with me that it wasn't fit for purpose if its deliberately rendered redundant by new proprietary software issued by the manufacturer.

"Fit for purpose" the consumer legislation says.

i would say the iPhone 4 is fine but i think the 3GS will be left out of this one.

The 4 will be ok, but I bet it will run like a slow tortoise. Remember iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G. It was a disaster.

Apple is under no obligation to upgrade software on legacy phones. The 3 and 3GS do what they were advertised to do when originally sold. That we get free updates is a bonus.

3G does not support iOS 5 (3GS is supported though)

Correct and even on the 3Gs its pretty sluggish, from most reports i have read.
