Hello again my far flung friends...............

Another question for the collective....

Is there a way to get a photo on an iphone onto an ipad by just using bluetooth perhaps????

Hi Jenny,

Yes there are lots of Apps out there that will let you transfer photos over bluetooth between iPhone and iPad.

Look up 'Bluetooth Photo share' in the App store and you will see alot of different apps that do this. Some are free and some cost. Just experiment with the free ones first.

If you use iCloud and Photostream, any photo you take on your iPhone/ iPad will automatically appear in either device.

I use photo sync. Has a desktop helper too.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm trying to help my dad and he doesn't have icloud or photostream. I'll check out the apps store and look for a free app. Thanks a lot.

Kind regards

Jenny

iCloud and PhotoStream is free and is built into iPads and iPhones (except iPhone 3G) you just need to turn it on in settings under photos.

Yes, but..... wouldn't using those features "chew up" their internet allowance? They are on monthly prepaid 3G access and I was worried about how much it would use. (I'd go in to the Telstra shop and ask someone there but 1. I'm not always confident they really know what they are talking about and 2. there is always such a HUGE wait that..... I don't have the patience - particularly in light of number 1.)

Thanks JZ for your input. I'll see if I can find out more.

Cheers

You're right, they will chew up his monthly quota. A wifi syncing solution like Photosync or some other transfers directly from camera to camera. But if he doesn't have a wifi network he might need to set up a personal hotspot on his phone.

Photostream only backs up your camera roll over WiFi. Not your 3G data connection.

So if you take a photo on your iPhone when you're put and about, it will only be uploaded to your photo stream when you connect back on a WiFi network.

Nope. No wifi. Just his ipad and phone on 3G. How would he go about using personal hotspot on his phone?

Jenny, it's in Settings - third one down the list 'Personal Hotspot'. I have an iPhone 3GS so have to use Bluetooth - once activated my iPad picks up the phone as a network. Newer phones use their wifi chip so it's theoretically a bit faster, but actual speeds depend on your carrier.
