I agree with both of you regarding the MBA trackpad on the MBP. The rumour suggests that the MBP changes will be minimal; after all, it's already a great design.

Most of the changes to the MBP will be internal. According to the rumour, the only major difference externally will be the larger trackpad (like that of the MBA)

While the current design is dated it's still the best looking full featured notebook on the market. As a comparison check out this monstrosity (Qosmio F40) from Toshiba (I'd link to it directly but Toshiba.com.au is such a pathetic website it hides internal links). While crazy Japanese companies are pushing out this shit why would Apple bother doing anything to update their line of notebooks.

Even the ipod has ditched the white look some time ago.
Bring on some style!

That's what the rumour suggests.

There's also long been a rumour that the display bezel of the new MBP will be black, like the current-model iMacs. And there's also a persistent rumour that the casing will be wedge-shaped, like the Air. Sounds cool, but how would you fit an optical drive?

I think the shape of the case will remain unchanged.

I think you're hope is a forlorn one, as demonstrated by the latest rumour on this topic.

Do you think they'll offer them in anything other than silver? I could dig a cherry coloured Macbook.

Someone will find a way to do that, just as they've done for the MBP. It probably won't be cheap though.

One possibility (in parallel development with the iPhone??) is a 3G/3.5G chipset/module to give HSDPA (and also GPS?) coverage. Of course, Wi-Fi is available in many locations, including homes and offices, but for true ‘almost anywhere’ connectivity, at high speed, a 3.5G wireless modem, with both HSDPA and HSUPA – for high speed downloads and uploads - is the way some non-Intel manufacturers have been going. This gets away from having annoying "bits" sticking out of your machine which can be damaged or lost.
iTwire explains - Ericsson says that HSPA is the “world’s most widely deployed mobile broadband technology, with more than 185 commercially deployed networks available around the world serving more than one billion subscribers.” and describes Ericcson, Dell and Lenovo plans for their current/future laptops.
You would think that Apple would have to be considering these developments in their upcoming MacBook and MBP upgrades.
