Steve Jobs left big shoes, and apple is betting $378 million that Tim Cook is the right guy to fill, That is the value of the annual pay package Mr. Cook was awarded last August, when he was named Apple chief executive, about two months before Mr. Jobs died. Nearly all of the compensation stems from a grant of one million shares of restricted stock, valued at $376.2 million, based on Apple's stock price at the time.

So is he worth it ? Or better still anybody worth that sort of salary with perks package ??

It's a bit ridiculous.

No one is worth it. But that's the way the world works. I once heard a statistic that after about $300,000/year a person's happiness doesn't increase. I guess would be more like a $1 million in today's terms but the point is, these ridiculous salaries don't really benefit anyone.

I'm sure he'd be happy to send it to you :)

I doubt he pays that much comparatively. There are a lot of tax dodges for the rich and powerful in the US. Congress has to keep their donors happy :/

I think you have all missed the point.

Tim C is in a dead-end job. Once this is over there's no chance he can be employed anywhere else. He's on a hiding to nothing.

If he does a great job and Apple scales new heights, how could anyone else give him the challenge and the renumeration he deserved? On the other hand, if Apple stumbles (which it must) while he's at the helm, he'll be the guy that caused the fall, and will be unemployable.

His package merely represents enough money to hold he and his family over while he's between jobs I suspect, which may be for the rest of this millennia.

Cheers,

P

It seems Mr.Cook has turned down his $75 million dividend payout.
