Ken, is is amazing that in such relatively short time both Apps have become so popular.
Digital has to have had the biggest impact on photography since the days of colour being introduced.

I am living in the past Gordon, I am a 60s child what can I say, Bring back the Beatles and Kodak film processing centres, where they used to check every photo, before putting it into its nice little yellow pouch, to make sure there was no nudity on your film,
and if there was they told you it didn't develop correctly, and they took it home for there private collection :P Ahh Those where the Days :D

But now a day its more like a Prayer

Dear God,
Please send clothes for all those poor ladies on grandpa's computer.

Amen !

Ken i am a latecomer to digital and the only reason i changed over at the time was that the film and slides i used was difficult to come by.
The greatest benefit for me has been that developing and editing is so much simpler than the days of the darkroom. Having said that at first i became lazy as i knew as long as my digital image was in focus the exposure and composition problems could be repaired with software, also with the higher shutter speeds only dreamed about with film allows access to low light situations.

I got to admit Gordon, some times I look at Hi end cameras, and think to myself I would like to buy that, but then reality sets back, and says to me, damn your average day, is 14 hours, plus I work in my factory on Saturdays, sneak out for a meal with my darling wife on a saturday night, talk dribble on here, every time I have 5 minutes to spare, and then do paperwork on a Sunday.

So my guess is after a week the amount of dust on my expensive camera, it could become A great source to grow mushrooms, or potatoes, and not much else.

I can understand your comment, so easy for me being retired and able to pursue my interests. Its only another 30 years and you can consider doing the she thing.

Retire ? What are these words you speak of... Gordon :jawdrop:

I truly have zero interest in retirement, I have been now working now for 39 years, started when at 14 when my father had a heart attack, to help my mother keep the house, while doing night school, to grow a small sense of intelligence ( but failed that as well),
so I guess retirement was never part of life's plan for me Gordon, so its hard work for me, and no photographs.

I don't get instragram. Why do I want to share all my photos with the world? And none of my friends use it so not much point there either. Am I missing something?

Xenophos your not missing anything, we all think and see things differently.
In my case i derive a great deal of pleasure sharing my images with those that may not have the good fortune to travel extensively as what i have. The reaction i get from people from different cultures and countries is most satisfying, specially those images which record parts of Asia as it was back in the 60's.
I guess it all gets down to how one sees things.

Good answer Stubz, I was going to ask the same question as Xeno. Although I can't see me using the app I think it's great you get so much out of it and from the sounds of it give pleasure to a lot of people with your pics. Awesome work :)

Stubzee - thanks. I can see that. Probably was a time I would have done that but I've sort of gone a bit off photography lately. Trying to get some oomph back and I have to admit the iPhone helps.
