I recently purchased a Sony nex -5 camera some months back, and, its a darling of a machine,it takes a really strong, colourful, and fairly sharp image at better than average {for the size} quality too,I thought it pertinent to recommend the latest firmware/software update that has just been released bringing it up to version 1.04 .Obtainable from the sony website-australia.
I have noticed, since acquiring the new firmware update, that the camera is now functioning at an even better level, according to my perception anyhow.I have not checked to see if it includes the Nex 3 too,i imagine it does.
As a side note,i already have a reasonable low end canon dslr, and purchased the sony, after some careful deliberation and a goodly amount of homework on the subject, seeking to find an harmonious blend between quality and portability.
The sony Nex,although having some limitations compared to a full dslr,is a very nice piece of kit,and has become my take anywhere shooter when the occassion prohibits carrying the larger dslr with me.
Thanks to the excellent article on it, in one of last years issues of amw,i became aware of it and bought one, and,i happen to really like it,it has excellent low light capabilities, which suits some of my work,as i sometimes shoot bands playing live venues, and hate using flash ,and tripods can be very difficult in packed places. [iso-12,000,approx] I hope this is informative/useful to any other Nex camera owners who may frequent the forums, regs david.
