I'm like golfer - I am using the iPad2 for work, much more than I had anticipated. The real crunch came a couple of months ago, when I decided to leave my macbook pro at home and set out on a three-day site visit with just the iPad. And it all worked. The extra portability of the iPad really came in handy. For example, I was able to walk across a campus, checking off progress of reviewers in different locations on a spreadsheet in numbers - wouldn't have done that with a laptop.
I have just written a post on my blog about the apps that I use for work - see purplezengoat
another recent addition was uploading tomtom - great stuff for someone as geographically challenged as me
this is my first post on this forum - I hope it's of use
cheers

opps back up a second, I just stumbled onto this Mobile MYOB its not the real deal, but its a start, and just to add a touch more excitement, MYOB have said there something new coming in the next update, but not much else.. fingers crossed
Yes, definitely love to have some apps or some sort of MYOB on the IPad. That would be great. Maybe someone out there can think of something. just to keep track of expensive expenses.
Curiosity has immense benefits for all!

We were asked what we have been doing at home to encourage his learning with ability to spelling and small number calculations and identifications and so on. One of our answers were not such a surprise to her which surprised me and jane to be honest, we had been using quite a large amount of educational Apps through our phones for like an hour a night, give or take between tantrums. Sure we also do a lot of non digital stuff as well and won't bore you with that but in some ways i quietly felt guilty of introducing or using digital games, even if they are educational, what i am trying to say I guess is we were surprised to hear that many many many families are adopting to apps for digital devices to assist their children in learning.
The phones are just to small for him now and for some time have been trolling eBay for a cheap deals on an iPad just for this purpose but to no avail. For the price difference of $100 bucks we purchased a new 32gig Wifi today. It's not in the ultimate range that Apple offers but will get us over the line for what we will do with it. Not only that but it maybe give Jane and myself time with it and learn how to incorporate it into our lives as well, cause we've never used one, but judging on the smiles of our young bloke its worth every penny, well, when he can get it off his mum anyway, o and not to forget it keeps them both off my iMac.

Would you like to share the names/details of some of the educational apps that you have been using?
Our (almost) 2 year old daughter loves playing on the iPod Touch and I'd like to be able to find something useful/education for her to use

Hi Jamie,
An App that I have purchased for my kids that is really good is 'Monkey Preschool lunchbox'. It's universal as well. It's a combination of matching games, counting and puzzles. It's great!

Hey Jamie,
Our son first picked up an iPhone around your daughters age. Not really understanding what to do with it at first I saw he was interested in the pictures so I downloaded a few toddler apps. The ones he really liked (and the ones I wanted to start him with) was the Talking Baby Flash Cards, Fisher-Price: Chatter Phone, Fisher-Price: Little People Farm and Fisher-Price: See n say. They were a hit so I got some more (ended up with 57 of them!). He loved them that much I found myself trying to get my own phone back..... I downloaded some puzzles which were good, just simple ones to start with like My first puzzles: Numbers, My first puzzles: toys, My first puzzles: the alphabet.
I could really see he was enjoying them and actually felt good to know he was learning at an early age. He then went onto Find me! for kids, Park Math - Duck Duck Moose, Itsy Bitsy Spider, My day at the zoo, Word wagon, Fish School, wheels on the bus, Giraffe's Preschool playground (loves this one still), my first number tracing.
I've been reading to him since he was 9 months old and when I came across some book apps with puzzles in them I thought that would be a good idea. Downloaded Winnie to Pooh Puzzle book, Three little pigs and Mickey's spooky night puzzle book.
We were just about out of educational idea's when in the MacWorld book Danny Gorog suggested Montessorium apps. Downloaded them and he loves them and still now is playing them. The ones we got were Intro to Math and Intro to letters.
Will have to stop this post, as typical me drifts off subject, but as for TV shows little Einstein's has been a winner for music and instruments.

Absolutely agree, we do offset the time with other activities which has kind of helped us to find a heathy balance with it or at least kept my concerns at times at an acceptable level, usually I'm the one that freaks out, are we doing the right things, thankful we have had some positive news.

Hi Mick, janes been sifting through books today trolling through IPad apps and so on to replace some of phone apps, you may have to excuse my reply to Jamie as most of the apps were for iPhones i think, will post later to your link when we look at a few more apps for the iPad.

A good point here too, we never considered the apps for the future devices we would get, an iPad was never on the books when we buying the apps, iPad versions are just fricken brilliant, should of done this earlier in the peace.
