It's all down to personal choice but the simple fact is that you can do more with a jailbroken phone. If you're happy with Apple dictating what your device is capable of that's fine, if you're not, jailbreak

I see it pretty much like purchasing a car and then fitting a custom part. You might void your warranty but as long as it doesn't break the law, then what is the harm?

BBSettings (let's you swipe to access most frequently used sys prefs).
I think you can add widgets and the like.
As Islandhead says - if it's not for you don't worry. (It's not for me either!)

Islandhead, on 24 January 2012 - 05:41 PM, said:
i'm not worried about it, just curious, if i want to find about something thats up to me. there is no problem.
i'm definitely no Microsoft fan but i keep up to date with what they are doing,
to be anti "something" you need to be pro "something" and need to understand both sides.

firstly i was using microsoft as an example - even though i'm a huge Apple fan and don't see microsoft doing anything exciting i still keep up with what both sides are doing, regardless of my view of either company.
and i never said you mentioned anti, again it was an example
so in simple english (in case i'm being to confusing), i simply would like to know the benefits of jail breaking, as i am "anti" jail breaking, and "pro" not jail breaking,
hence my statement " to be anti "something" you need to be "pro" something
just like when i'm watching a game of tennis with one of my favourite players, i like to know the weakness and strengths of his opponent.
again i like to see from both sides
if you don't actual know why people jail break their phones then you don't have to reply to my posts, i'm sure someone will eventually post up the benefits (apart from the few already mentioned)
hope that clears things up.

Benefits include:
complete customisation of your device.
The ability to use software that didn't make it into the App store due to Apples stringent policies or that the developers begrudge the 30% cut to Apple (do not knee jerk and assume these are pirate programs)
FaceTime over 3G
Running a different OS. Abhorrent to Apple users but some people like to use their initiative, explore and discover.
I humbly hope in my diminished intellectual capacity I have used the correct terminology and language.

and if you were insulted by last post then it you shouldn't have kept knocking me down each time i asked for someone to explain the so called benefits of jail breaking ( which still doesn't seem all that exciting)
an in the future don't tell me when i need to know or not know about a topic,
