Does anyone from the magazine actually read these forums any more? It seems to be that it is pointless having these forums if the magazine staff can't even be bothered to be here to participate

This used to be a thriving and lively community, what happened?Posted Image

I haven't checked the stats Jamie, does anyone from anywhere drop by?

I think we are the last two fools who do! And no, I don't have the March print edition yet.....

Cheers,

P

Well I can only assume that there are only 2 or 3 of us left now, hardly worth bothering to try and keep things going - also not holding my breath for the March issue as surely it should be out by now

So there are four of us! We should form a band... and I'm away for a week, so won't know if the March issue is going to arrive soon or not...

cheers,

Hi Alaz, when I spoke to someone in Niche yesterday, they said there would be no March issue, and due to declining subscriptions the print magazine is going out bi monthly from April.

But no one is talking to us, their customers!

cheers,

P

I guess this makes me wonder if there is any need for forums for Mac users any more, the ones that I used to use (here and to lesser extent MacTalk) are all but dead now.

AppleTalk has some activity but I do not think that the format lends itself to people actively using the forums.

Apple/tech news is now for the most part obtained through social media services such as Facebook and Google+ but neither of these (in my view) has a "community" feel to it like we used to have here. Can we find a way to get back to the active user supported forums of old? Obviously there is only a point to this is there are people that want it - so I ask you all is there a need or shall we all just up sticks and act as loners and not share our views, experiences and knowledge with each other any more?

These are my thoughts, I know that this probably won' be read by very many people, but if you do ready this and want to make yourself heard then please free to speak up.

As per a post above there is no March issue and the magazine is going bi-monthly from April

I'm afraid that this does not bode well and I give the magazine about 6 months before it stops publication completely

So still no comment or official word from Niche?

Great way to lose subscribers... no wonder circulation is dropping.

They clearly no longer care about their readership (and ergo their own livelihood).

If we had any mods left I'd ask one to reset my password and/or delete my account so I'm not tempted to come here any more but I still hold a small sliver of hope that things might return to they way they were a few years ago.

Well thats the thing to get my account approved it took an administrators approval. I ended up emailing Anthony Capuana an Editor for Macworld Australia and he directed me to Ravi the IT Manager. They responded within 24 hours of my email maybe we could approach them for help/support?

Jack its a shame you had to go to all the trouble of emailing Anthony, to get on the forums, as a EX admin here, before they changed the rules and removed all of our admin privileges, you would have probably been approved in under an hour.

I am not 100% sure if the blame for the demise of these once thriving forums, is the fault of Niche Or Anthony, or simply a case of many of us, have just ran out of time in our busy lives, to spend to time in here chatting or reading what is now simply a
reprint of US macworld with a fancy cover and a small amount of input from a skeleton staff, who put there 2 cents in to keep there jobs open.

I don't think, this site will ever thrive again, nor will the mag ever make a come back, I have a friend works for a company, that was very heavy advertiser, in Macworld Australia, and they can no longer see value for money in advertising here any more, due top poor circulation,
there is just no back for there hard earned buck anymore.

And with a bi monthly mag coming out, this will only encourage more and more advertisers to pull the pin, once that happens, it will be the end of the mag, and surely the end of both macworld and mactalks presence online.

So all i can say folks, is enjoy the fleeting months you have left here, its been great to meet some fantastic people, I have even had dinner with a couple of you and a Beer, with a few ex editors, but its time to move on look for other apple related forums, and maybe we will all chat there on and off in the future :D

PS Jamie, thanks for lighting the candle in the window every night, to show us macworld was still alive, you put up a good fight, sorry it was in vain.

Thats it for me, I will see you on the flip side
