Hi everyone,

I've never had an issue with Western Digital external drives and i am surprised by what happened today. I finally had the 1.5 TB WD HDD connected to my iMac (via USB). The drive was formatted for Mac and then Time Machine did the initial backup of my HDD. About an hour ago, a circuit breaker in my unit popped and i lost power to my iMac and all the peripherals attached to it. Initially i thought it was a power surge, however on further investigation i have discovered that the external HDD caused the power surge and it seems in the process committed "suicide". There is no power coming to the WD, irrespective of the power supply i connect it to and i am only guessing (hoping) that the data is still intact.

Anyone else have a similar problem or a suggestion ?

Vlad
