Wow the rumor mill has gone into over drive this afternoon, with a reliable source discovering, that we will see the iPhone 5 in 3 weeks.

I wonder if Know Your Mobile has been accurate in the past? In any case, I think it's possible. Apple have been keeping us on our toes and have stiff competition from Android and Windows at the moment. AND it gives plenty of clear air for a 7" iPad announcement later in the year.

I don't see how it would blow Samsung out of the water, by all accounts they're really competing on their own terms. In fact, it seems to me the smartphone race is now Apple/Samsung (which Samsung is winning) rather than iOS/Android (which isn't a meaningful metric IMO, given the ubiquity of cheap chinese knockoffs etc.) I think with the Nexus tablet Apple needs to hurry a 7" tablet to market, although they tend not to dance to tune being played today - they try to anticipate what the tune will be in a couple of years.

Looks like we will see the iPhone announced on August 7.. Not released.

im suprised that they will bring out an iPhone 5 very soon - how long has the iPhone 4S been out? i still dont have one ! waiting until October when contract runs out and see what my boss gives me, i was hopeing for a 4S, but now i hope its a 5

iOS 6 comes out in "The Fall" which makes that around september-november here. I can't see the latest iPhone coming put with the iOS 5 on it.

Realistically though, it won't come out till September/ October.

Here's hoping they announce it at the beginning of August!

Im hanging on the iPhone 5 too, I have iPhone4 and am looking forward to a better camera. Can't wait!
