All, just been sending some pictures to some friends and have noticed that when i attach to an email it comes in as a "viewed picture" not an icon. Ok, right click and chose attach as icon, but what this does is

reduce the original image from say 1.7mb down to 200kb. The receivers are saying they cannot retrieve the images if they are sent as "viewed picture".

Now how do i send the images the same size as i have taken them?????

Any ideas?????

Mick :italiamac_rolleyes:

Not sure Mick, somebody else posted a similar question the other days about imagine size, and I am no to sure, if they received an answer either, my only guess is, when you attach the file, select to and I as a windows friendy format.
Come on 20K

I think there is a size setting at the bottom right of the compose mail window.

I just learnt something new here......it always annoyed me how mail adds the entire image into your message when you attach it...i never knew right mouse clicking you could create it as an icon. I think it should work like Microsoft Outlook...(ouch did I say that) where it automatically inserts it as an icon in it's own field at the top of email message.

Anyway, I inserted a 2.6MB file and then right mouse clicked, view it as an icon, and it still retains it 2.6 MB size. I sent the message to myself and the image comes through as 2.6MB.

What i will test is sending the same email to my work computer with is a crappy Dell laptop and see if it opens in Outlook on the PC.

So I will test converting the image to an icon and sending to my PC at work as well as send the image in place and see if I can open them both, and if they retain the original 2.6MB size.

I will let you know the outcome tomorrow Mick.

Thanks All & Brian, when I am attaching here my files are diminishing is size substantially ! As I said 1.7mb down to 204 kb. That's crap, The slider thingo Speedo was talking about was the actual add on image size, might have a play with that anyway just to eliminate it from the equation.......

I'm not sure why that's happening Mick. For me it stays the same size. You actually taught me something for once...he he....

Mick, once you attach them to your email, you then have an option on the bottom right hand corner of the mail message to select the image size, either small medium, large or actual Size. If you select anything other than Actual size, it will reduce the size of the image. I just tested it.

Come on I am not that simple, I am using the actual size, check your email as I have sent some test sizes to you, they both are not what's coming in from A3 or just attached from my document folder....

Well, the images I sent to my work computer from home came through fine.. I could view them on my work PC.

I'm still confused what you are doing Mick.

I am sorry Brian, mate was on planet nine, for some reason I was copying & pasting the email documents over to another folder in my hard drive. Then selecting them there from email, strange i know but in doing this it does a file reduction that we all cannot see or know for that matter. Now if you are in A3 and highlight the picture, click the email tab, then send as an icon "bingo" problem solved. I am sure this is what you were doing. Me i am a bit strange and go about things in strange ways to achieve the same result.
