Especially with the screws, being so tiny it's easy to lose them. I lost one screw on Monday, it's on my floor somewhere. Luckily it was a screw I could afford to lose to the time being.

OWC kit arrived late in the week and the job is done, wow what a difference it makes!

Here's a full rundown of the process. http://applelife.tv/...tate-drive-ssd/

One week on, still loving the SSD.

If you want to see for yourself, I made a short video tonight that shows just how fast software boots when run of an SSD.

Check it out here http://applelife.tv/...ssd-speed-demo/

Not bad Pete, but what I would love to see is boot up time, from a cold start ?

Great stuff, Peter! Thanks for posting all the info ... that's going to make things a lot easier/less daunting for a lot of people.

Cheers

Ken, check out the same post (http://applelife.tv/...ssd-speed-demo/ ) I've just put a new video, albeit a bit wobbly that shows the bootup.

Enjoy.

Thanks Pete, it looks about 30 to 40% faster, would that be about correct ?

At least... it is still surprising when it boots so quickly. I've had this machine for a while and it was getting pretty slow before I rearranged its innards :)

Shutdown is just as impressive...
