Hi there. I've been doing a bit of reading and I'm seeing a bit written about two "problems" with the new ipad.

1. Taking a long long time to charge (compared to iPad 1 & 2)
2. Getting really hot in a particular spot..... too hot to hold?????

So.... can anyone confirm whether this these "problems" are actually real and most importantly, could someone tell me if either of these "issues" is able to be fixed or corrected by future software updates (as I have also read might be the case).

I've read some posts about negativity on the Forum too....... I drop in and out of the Forum and have always found it (and the people here) very helpful. I'm surprised you say not many people read it. I wonder where they go for their Aussie related advice? This is the best for me. No substitute for me for getting advice about what's happening here!! I haven't ever found anything particularly negative. I work in Human Services with clients who can be really really difficult so maybe my tolerance for "negativity" is a bit different to other's on the list. :P :P

Thanks for being here is what I'd like to say!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers

Jenny

I can't go by first hand experience but from what I've read...

Long charging times are a real issue. It seems best to charge with the screen off.
It is a little hotter but not too hot to hold and not as hot as some other devices.

Cheers,

Alex

Thanks Alex. So.... do you know if the long charging issue is something that a software upgrade can affect? Or is that just pie-in-the-sky talk???

I think it's a product of the much higher capacity battery. It has something like 70% or more capacity than the previous model. I think it's a limitation of the technology at this stage.

Hi
Look at the new Ipad to day and really found heavier especially I do lots of reading on it.

ALso would agree with you all, from all the reviews that I have gleaned it is hotter and takes quite a while to recharge.

I just charging is subject to when you charge it, if you do it while you are counting sheep, it won't be an issue how long it takes, but if you want to charge it during the day, 5 or 6 hours to charge it, would feel like a lifetime.

The heat from what I have read, is on par with most other tablets, so you shouldn't be to concerned & will a software or firmware update correct the problems in the near future ? I doubt it very much.

I've also read on da net that the new iPad has weak WiFi reception. Has anybody else heard about this and can it be fixed? Maybe a WiFi range extender will do the job!!!

WiFi problems have been around as long as the iPad and iPhone has been out, and from memory in 100% of cases the problems have always been fixed with a patch in the operating system within a few weeks or a month of a new i devise being released, so i wouldn't be to concerned.

I've heard about it and apparently Apple is offering some sort do remedy, not sure what but probably a replacement. I believe it's not on all models.
