If apple can get ios 6 out with the iPad 3 I think they will jump ahead of the competition.

It would be very cool but it would be a little early in the normal cycle. But anything's possible - no one expected Kitty Cat. I mean, Mountain Lion.

There's no way iOS 6 will be released with the iPad 3. Apple needs to announce it and then let developers test their apps and tweak them before it's officially released.
It would be a disaster just releasing an OS without giving developers time to test their Apps.
But, here's hoping for a preview of iOS 6 this week...

There has been no leaked info on ios 6 has there ? If it's only a minor change, would they need to supply updates to developers?

iOS 6 won't be a minor update. I think they will release iOS 5.1 along side the iPad event.
I hope they preview iOS 6 at the event though...
