I've commented on most of the negativity in other threads, so won't here. But Ken, I really can't believe you mentioned the drop in share price. If I actually had any money I would have hedged on that happening and I'd be buying shares now waiting for the rebound. It happens EVERY keynote and produce release WITHOUT FAIL! Sorry for shouting, but seriously...

But clearly the iOS 6 upgrade is a complete waste of money ;)

Mind you, $20 for ML is pretty hard to resist. Loose change really. I suspect it has to do with US accounting laws that Apple charges anything at all (like they used to with the iPod touch).

That's the pont. So will every other upgrade that comes in the future be.

I can't say with any conviction that my iPhone (3GS) is any different now than it was on the day that it was born with it's original IOS installed. Apple and the slavishly running off at the mouth fan boy community will convince me that I need IOS6 and I will update. I will do this because some of my Apps will no longer function properly, then I will upgrade to whatever cat family is current on my other machines so they will talk as well, but really, did I need anything more that OS4.2?

Remind me again, how many people are on this forum?

How many people subscribe with their credit cards to the App store? How many of them would know their bottom from their elbow in computer speak? Hmmmm.... not many.

So if you want earth shattering, go and develop it yourself.

If like the other billion of us you are happy to sit back and enjoy the occasional magic show from the man in the black shirt, well cough up the $20 every year or two and enjoy the updates!

(Sorry if this is more garbled that usual, it's a bit early!)

Cheers,

P

I think we have seen all we are going to see in ios 6, there will be no magic bullet, if apple were going to bring some streak of brilliance, it would have been displayed today, not when the iPhone 5 arrives.

Why do I say this ? Simple. You do not want to pull a rabbit out of your hat at the last second, and diminish, the shine from your sexy new handset.

Apple have gone into survival not innovation mode, they just trickle something new, out to just keep them ahead of the pack, now not streaking ahead, yelling out catch us now.

I would agree that the hardware upgrades could have been better across the board, but the software updates have definitely won me.

Past iOS have been a bit lacklustre and Lion still seems like the Vista for Apple - still better than windows offerings though - but iOS6 and ML have me excited for the first time in a while...

Judging by the Apple site, looks like some good things happening in iOS6
Loss of google worries me though, I use TomTom on the iPhone and it's great, but no way do I want to loose street view.

There was no talk pod street view on Apple Maps so might have to wait and see but at this point i'd say we won't see it just yet, but if you use Tom Tom (so do I) then you'll be happy Apple Maps is powered by Tom Tom

Tom Tom maps are very good, and if you are not a Tom Tom fan, you can't lose, because every other map for the iPhone, will drop from the current dizzy heights of 60 bucks plus, down to $9.95 in about 2 days after ios 6 arrives.

Well technically, in a few months time the iPhone 5 will be out, and the iPhone 4 will be two generations behind, which will get loss love from apple just like every other iOS devise, that 2 generations behind.
