Wow I never thought I would ever type those words into a durum post, but yes it's true Microsoft bought all the AOL patents today which includes Netscape

I still remember walking into Harvey Norman, in 1984, and having the option to pay $34.95 for Internet explorer or $24.95 for Netscape.. You can guess which one I bought.

WOWOWO! really Netscape! I thought it was dead ages ago. May be Microsoft is buying some relics and paraphinelia for display in their museum. No?

O did Netscape come out in 95, damn I thought it was 84~85, well headman when you get to my age, a day feels like an hour and ten years feel like lunch break

I believe Netscape holds the patent for SSL (yes, that SSL - secure socket layer) but haven't been charging licensing fees for it. VERY strategic acquisition for Microsoft and a potential cash cow if they want to go down that line.
