Well it happened today. I dropped my iPad2 In the carpark and have shattered the screen.

It is such a sad sight to see such a beautiful device damaged.

Any recommendations on the best way to have it repaired?

I am in Canberra so I do not have an apple store nearby (Penrith would be the closest)

There are a few apple specialty resellers in the area (Mac1) but I don't know if they do repairs.

Anyone tried the do it yourself replacements you can find online?

Get it professionally repaired, I have heard dozens of horror stores, of people trying to do item selves, and dodgy repair places in shopping centers, leaving screws loose and worse.

Get your local apple reseller, to send I ack to apple for you, and repaired properly.

Thanks Ken.

After a bit of googling I have come to the conclusion that I won't attempt a repair myself so it is either the local reseller or a road trip to a Sydney apple store for a genius appointment.

I was asking at the 'Genius' bar at the Sydney shop about repair of a screen for the iPhone 3 as it was smashed, they quoted $39  I asked again and they said that's the right price and they do it while you wait  still seems a little low for me, I would have expected it to be higher.
Good luck with the iPad, maybe ring Apple and get a costing, would be interesting to know.

Oh, that's awful.

Apple's usually pretty pretty good with this kind of thing, so hopefully it won't set you back too much speedy.
