Under no circumstances post executable files on these forums. They will be immediately removed.
Under no circumstances post pornographic media files on these forums. They will be immediately collected by the Administrators and held for evaluation.
Under no circumstances post any illegal content on these forums. Illegal content includes "warez" files, codes for unlocking pirated software, serial numbers, instructions and so on. This also includes instructions (or links to instructions) for getting OS X to run on non-Apple hardware, which is a form of software piracy.
Do not post media files for which you do not own copyright unless such files are in the public domain or are licensed under equivalent conditions such as Creative Commons. In those cases please credit the appropriate licenses when posting.
Do not copy and paste from other web sites or forums any text for which you do not own copyright. Posting short excerpts is permissible as long as full credit is given to the originating site and/or author. Deliberate plagiarism will not be tolerated. If in doubt, ask an Adminsitrator.

Is there such a thing as an "accidental" attachment? I think not. I don't understand why one would let someone abuse the privileges offered three times?
Cheers,

I don't want to have predefined consequences, because I think at the time of the offense a judgment will have to be made on the severity of the offense. Pornography means different things to different people. There are certain types of pornographic content that I would say a single offense is too many and those posters can go away. Other stuff I might let slide with a warning.
Creative Commons is a means by which content creators can make their works available for limited public usage without leaving them entirely in the public domain. Many of the images on Wikipedia are covered by Creative Commons licenses. For more information check out the web site.

Or even part of a web site ? Only reason I ask is I know I have and I am sure others have, posted bits and pieces from other sites like apples help forums here to help other members out.
If this is the case, should we mark the post with copied from apple forums or the other site to ensure you guys are not in trouble for our posts? Or simply not post it and paste a link to the forum ob apples web site with the help that they need...

1) I tried to upload two small photographs but the second one did not get through.
I saw that there was some error message but most of it was under under the upload bar.
It would be nice to know what limits are on individual sizes, number of files per post or total size of an individual's attachments, if any.
Is it possible to post two jpg in one go or one needs to fuse them into one?
2) I aborted the session but photograph-1 was still in my attachment area, I could not delete it. Next day it was not there, thanks.
3) I experimented with jpg sizes and found that the new Preview feature (tools > adjust size) can drastically decrease size whilst maintaining
good quality.
4) I'd like to know how to quote something less than somebody's full post.

The size limit is 500KB. This is a cumulative total so you need to ensure that you delete attachments after a few weeks. To delete attachments perform the following:
- At the top of the Forum page, click My Controls.
- The Menu on the left hand side of the controls is grouped into four parts. Under Options, click Manage Your Attachments.
- Place a tick against the attachments you wish to delete (refer screen shot).
- Click the Delete Selected button.
You can only upload screen shots one at a time. I wouldn't bother fusing them.
After you click the Reply button below a post, you'll see the text quoted. Just edit everything between the (square brackets omitted) quote name = … and /quote tags, then start your reply immediately below the /quote tag. that's all I did when replying to this post!

Thanks Mick for the info, I could delete old attachments ok. Editing quotes is ok, I just thought that there was a simpler (cut & paste - like) thing.
Btw, what is the Quote button good for then?
And, as the attachment shows, there is some unreadable message stuck underneath the "Select a file" bar in attachments.
Would be nice to fix this.
Thanks again,

When I hovered my mouse over that button, the tool tip said "toggle multiquote additions" (without the quotes). Perhaps you can try it and tell us what you've found?

This one has always puzzled me too, Mick. OK so it allows you to do a new post with multiple quotes, I guess, BUT how? If you click on "+Quote" it turns to "-Quote" (nothing else happens and only the one post is quoted) but I have not found a way of getting two quotes into one post. By clicking on "Reply" the text from that post is quoted ready for your comment, so what I am missing? In words of one syllable what do you do next to include a second quote, please?

OK I will try to do a multiquote reply. (I've tried numerous times in the past!!) So according to you Mick I post this comment then edit with the Quote button............
Nup I've tried half a dozen times clicking on Quote (from+ to -) to Quote on other posts. I'm not trying to be obtuse!! How do you get the second Quote into the same post window????? The actual sequence of clicks is what I need please??

I reckon Mick knows how to use the "multi-quote" aspect of the "Quote" button, TL. He's done some multi-quote posts over the last month but he's being a bit tricky with his answers trying to get us to work it out for ourselves. I'm damned if I can work it out - it is certainly not intuitive. (It's not something I would use much, but very handy to reply to more than one post when required.)

Gazza, I just copy and paste the HTML tags and put them where I want them in the text.

Correct! each quote starts with a quote tag and ends with a /quote tag.
