Hi everyone, can someone tell me what does" .DS_Store " mean.
I have this little graphic coming up on my desk top , just like a blank page with the corner folded.
it appears everywhere also in my document under other files.
If anyone knows what it means please let me know.
Cheers

Here pegi:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.DS_Store
The files are usually invisible (hidden) files. There are "simple" fixes in terminal to make them invisible again, but I don't do terminal!
Cheers,

By the way this Mac Cocktail is an awesome little programme, for what is needed. Better than Mac Keeper, or should I say they could work in tandem.
It is interesting I had tried a couple of things from their site....Such as Thrash it. I just could get my thrash to empty. It took hours. Mind you had loads of things on it as I got rid of WINDOWS/parallels and the whole lot. Took 2 sec to do the whole lot. Brilliant site.

Damn it, I thought I replied Ken...but do not see my post.
I did not manage to erase the DS Store. Files . It asks me to drag it in the the windows for it, but it reappears 2 sec later..
On the software there is a window for DS _store . So used it but to no avail. Not sure what to do anymore.

I don't believe it's possible to erase DS _store files, the system will just keep making new ones. You need to make them invisible again!
Perhaps you could put a bit of tape over them, or some correcting fluid

You are right Peter, these files could nto be removed. Unless I mess around with TERMINAL, and can't be bothered to get into all that. However, they will stopped to be duplicated as I have indicated in this on the software.
It is funny that they have just started to appear when I got rid of Parallels and paraphernalia.
Cheers and thanks to ken also.

PS: I did try masking tape ...to no avail!
