Have you tried looking for the original video on either the ABC or iTunes sites?

I do this, and the only way I have found is to convert them on the Media Centre first (to straight mpeg2 - it is a container), then copy to the Mac and use Mpeg stremclip to edit the ads. To convert on the PC you can use Roxio VideoWave (also part of the Creator bundle) or Videoredo (google the name, I can't recall teh spelling).

As far as I can see, nothing (not even Roxio Toast) can edit these directly on a Mac, but if you find something, pass it around.
