Media Release

23 February 2009

Apple Store headlines AUSOM meeting

James Johnson, Manager of the Apple Retail Store in Chadstone, will be the keynote speaker at AUSOM's March main meeting in our new venue at the Melbourne PC Users Group premises.
'Not only have we secured a first-class new venue for our monthly meetings but, for the inaugural keynote address, we also have a senior Apple employee to fill us in on what Apple Retail has to offer and introduce us to the only Apple Store in Melbourne', AUSOM President Dick Johnson said.

'In what may be a first for Apple User Groups in Australia, we are delighted and very fortunate to have secured Apple Pty Ltd and the Apple Store's cooperation in participating with us on this unique occasion'.

'James will address the meeting for two hours and is looking forward to fielding a host of questions from the floor during that time. To expand on particular aspects of the keynote, he has also arranged for Genius Bar and Creative Team specialists to contribute to the meeting'.

'AUSOM's relocation to excellent new premises is a real coup and will enable us to provide better facilities and services to our members. It's also a great opportunity to develop and build a cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship with the Melbourne PC User Group'.

'The move, the developing relationship between the largest Apple and PC user groups in Australia - AUSOM and Melbourne PC User Group - and the Apple Retail Store presentation set the scene for a great future.

Visitors are also welcome. You don't have to be an AUSOM member to attend. And it's free!

The presentation will run for two hours from 1.00pm on Saturday 7 March 2009 at Melbourne PC User Group, 2nd floor, Chadstone Place, Chadstone Shopping Centre, Dandenong Rd, Chadstone (Melways 69, D4).

Important correction to AUSOM's media release dated 23 Feb.

Apple has advised that it will be unable to present the keynote at AUSOM's March meeting as planned. Instead, long-time AUSOM member Stephen Withers will address the meeting on 'My favourite freeware'

We covered this here a few days ago, it's a real shame the guy from the store can't make it. But I hope the meeting is still a huge sucess either way.
