Question to all the people out there who are smarter than me ( that's basically all of you ) I can't understand why apple throws money at sueing Samsung, it's got to be a toal waste of resources, money, and effort.
So why don't apple simply buy Samsung, from memory samsungs capital value is about 15.3 billion, damn Tim Cook, spends that on his lunch, so why don't apple buy apple ?? Is it to hard, to expensive, or is there some sort of Korean law that stops companies taking over companies.
From memory, apple owns millions of Samsung shares, , so why not just either pull there cash out or just buy the damn thing.
Somebody fill me in on what I am missing.

Well, I'm not sure, but if Apple were to buy Samsung, what would Samsung look like afterwards?
Would an Apple-owned Samsung still produce smart-phones? And when (if) an Apple TV set ever sees a light of day, would Samsung still build competing products?
It makes sense for Apple to buy Samsung from a parts supply point of view, but not from a retail products point of view.

You might not know it to look at me, but I'm pretty radical.

I imagine a few issues. Corporate culture. Buying one of their chief competitors would put them in competition with themselves or create ROI issues (you gonna stop making smartphones?). Wont solve the Android problem.

Why? In my experience Sony products are lousy quality and over priced.
Samsung products that I have bought and used have been far far better than anything I've ever had in the same space from Sony.

i disagree with you, i've had no problems with sony products, the choice between Sony and Samsung seems to lie somewhere between choosing between Apple and Microsoft or Google, my thoughts of Apple buying Sony (which was once rumoured and then lead Sony's stocks to quickly jump) would be that Apple could get their hands on the best gaming platform... The Playstation and also the TV range.

It is funny I have had experience with Sony products and I did find them quite poor and restricted. I.E computers. But on the other hand Samsung has produced some real good electronics.Their TV for example are just on of the best I have ever seen. .
But one is always going to find pros and cons to products.
What is the perfect product hey?

Back on topic (I'll save my views of Fony for another day)
I would have said that there would be a monopoly issue for Apple to consider buying Samsung. And for the consumer I think it would be a terrible idea. More competition leads to more innovative goodies for the likes of you and me.
It would be nice if tech pages I read these days didn't have sue/litigate/court battle in the title but I guess that's the way it's been going for a while.
