Hi, does anyone know of any app that allows you to video conference using iPhone 4s or iPad 2s over the local network, without Internet access? Most of my FaceTime calls are to people in my house, and it's a waste to use the Internet. Also, this would allow me to just set up a local network and have FaceTime, without needing Internet access.

Well if the iPhones and iPads are all on the same wi-fi network that would probably work. Though that might still use the internet.
Try it with your wi-fi router on but unplug your modem.
You might not know it to look at me, but I'm pretty radical.

I expect FT will use apples servers to connect but the actual traffic is unlikely to go over the Internet as your router should recognize that both devices are on it's local network and route accordingly.
This may be incorrect as I do not have an in-depth knowledge of how FT works.
I think disconnecting your modem may not work. Perhaps try connecting a FT call, then disconnecting the Internet connection.

Thanks, so there are no apps as yet that don't need the Internet? If say I go traveling, it would be nice to bring a pocket router and have FT access.
