I was just walking past my telly, and Back To The Future 2 was on... Truly a great movie, and low and behold, here is Michael J Fox, standing in front of his TV talking to it saying, Channel 2 , 204 27,53 etc

Wow that was what 20 years ago or more, and Apple only came out with Siri, 4 months ago, and we are still waiting for an Apple based Siri TV...

With an imagination like that, we don't need Tim Cook, we need Spielberg to come up with some fresh ideas :P

I just wonder how much innovation out there has come from the imagination of movie directors, I bet you its a lot more than you think.

well there has been the debate about the iPad was in 2001: Space Odyssey. And Steve Jobs himself said that FaceTime was inspired by Star Trek, and yes some ideas may have been inspired by movie directors but I think anyone with a love of Sci-Fi has dreamt of cool products that have been released over the last few years and years to come. But I do sometime think Apple should have different man at the top.

Exactly they need somebody with a wild imagination, Tim is now doubt a brilliant bean counter... But over time that's we're his talent will stop, and apple will need somebody, who can think outside the square to keep the company vibrant and fresh.

Apple need hardware innovation, not software, they have heaps of bowfins that can write software for them.

well i don't walk into apple stores to often as i find most of the staff to be less educated about the products then me, and they think they are too cool for school.

but honestly, for me, it's always been the software, then design is an added bonus.

You are yanking my chain. :italiamac_starwars:

You walk into a store and check software over cool looking design? That's as bizarre as asking a hooker for a hug, or going to mc Donald's for a salad.

as i said i rarely walk into an apple store, i certainly don't go look at the design as i already see it in the keynotes. when i walk into an apple store i grab what ever i need, buy it and get the hell outta there

To me it's the look of the product but also the software that draws me in.

More the design though. As you know I stroke, pat and caress my Apple products...:)

I agree that Apple needs a different front man. Tim is a brilliant guy, but lacks charisma and spark that Jobs had.

And I agree with Jamie.. Scott is the man for the job. He has charisma, energy and that spark that can bring Apple keynotes back to their former glory!

Now when I watch a keynote, it's like..Yawn.. Just show me what's new.

Hmmm, I'm not sure that Forstall or Ives need to be the top men in Apple, they just need to be the top men in their respective departments with minimal interference from Cook. If either of them move into CEO they'd have to worry about the whole company - that could be a disaster particularly for Ives.

Well Scott's better than Tim Cook... You can't deny that one Ken.

And Johnny is as boring as anything to watch as well.. He's brilliant... But not at presenting.

I'm with JZ - while the 'look' of Apple products is great, what I really look for is the special things that the OS and other software can do without any fuss.

If it wasn't for the software, all the product would be is a flashy brick...
