Ive notice with the iPad3 the case does not turn the iPad on/off any more. (yes, I have it switched on in settings)

While I am using the Cygnett case, I understand that the Apple "magic" case has also ;oct it's magic. https://discussions....art=30&tstart=0

Anyone here having an issue? I had no such problem with iPad 2.

I think i was discussing this in an earlier post of yours, I ran into this when looking for a cover myself and made the assumption that the iPad itself had a fault, embarrassingly I will admit I was Wrong! very very Wrong!. :italiamac_redface:

There is nothing wrong with the iPad itself, the feature is still available and works fine, its just that on the manufacturing side of things, Apple has now made the Magnetic features of the switch "polarity sensitive" you know..... north pole, south pole vice versa, that kind of thing. Case manufactures for the new iPad(3) now will need to get the right polarity of the magnets inside there new cases to suit, even some of the earlier Apple smart covers have had the same issue when trying on the new iPad( apple will replace once confirmed by a genius).

I was reading somewhere that STM are offering a "repair only "to any of there cases that were purchased specifically for the new iPad, on the day i tried heaps of different brands and all the ones i tried never worked, only by fluke thankfully we picked up another cygnet case and worked fine, however in saying that, the cygnet case that Jane has for her iPad(2) doesn't work with mine and both work on hers, so yeah, I'm led to believe its a case thing thankfully.

Anyway G, check out the link below, hope it helps to shed some light on it.

Graham, I just gave the Cygnett case a clean and all is good, works the same as it did with iPad 2, surprising the amount of crud gathered underneath the iPad 2 when I removed it from its home since new.

Mick.....
Correction, as per Jim's post, my magnet thingo's are polarity disorganised, the Cygnett iPad cover doesn't work, just the auto switch off had me fooled, like the young ladies (my daughters) have me every Saturday night.....fooled.....Posted Image

My case is quite clean, and I'm not sure how that would stop it working, but I'll give it a clean anyway, thanks.

There has been some ways to fix your cases in the link I supplied, have a read of some of his updates at the bottom of his page.

If you can't wait for suppliers to play catch up with cases for the new iPad, you can always pop the magnet out of your case and flip the magnet, then glue it up or stitch it up.

Thanks Jim, I'll try it. I did buy a Belkin case which works, but it's not as good as the Cygnett.

I have just got new iPad 3 and also bought the leather Smart Cover from Apple. It is working perfectly with my new iPad. I'm assuming that in the Settings you have put "ON" the iPad Cover Lock/Unlock.

Update:
After trying a few cases and needing something tough I have settled on otterbox defender for iPad, also for iphone5
Next month Otterbox are bringing out a waterproof case for iPhone, that will be worth looking at.
