App Guide

Trivia platform QuizJam has broadened its appeal and is being used by major companies that are looking for exciting and new ways to educate, embed training, engage, survey and improve the culture within their teams.

Initially developed as a platform for charities and brands to engage with customers through a trivia game, QuizJam has created a sub-brand with QuizJam for Teams which has found an additional niche in HR, Communications and Learning and Development as a gamified engagement and training tool.

One of the first to use it is the Commonwealth Bank, which used QuizJam to drive engagement at its recent Virtual Team Day.

Sara Rasmussen, the general manager of Organisational Development at CBA, says they ran a series of QuizJam tournaments in the lead up to the event, and on the day itself.

“It really did assist in fostering virtual cross team collaboration and a sense of fun. The app was very easy to use and over 96 percent of participants said that it increased their level of interaction and engagement on the day.”

QuizJam founder Joel Steel says that the trivia game is still as popular as ever and the decision to expand the platform’s use from a trivia game to a gamified HR and Learning and Development tool was a natural progression due to the functionality of the platform.

“To have one of Australia’s largest organisations be the first to use the platform was definitely a bit of a coup but proof that trivia can be used for more than just entertainment.”

Steel says he believed QuizJam for Teams has the potential to grow significantly to compliment its rise as the complete engagement solution. The QuizJam platform is also being used by industry leaders such as carsales.com.au and the West Coast Eagles as a customer/fan engagement and advertising tool.

West Coast Eagles general manager of Communication Gary Stocks says the club is always on the lookout for new and innovative ideas that can take the club’s interaction with its fan base to another level.

“We believe QuizJam will enable us to do that. It is a vacant space and we think this will generate genuine enthusiasm in West Coast and the AFL, not only in Australia but potentially opening us to a market overseas that we have never been exposed to before.”

QuizJam for Teams is built on real-time analytics, which enables managers to quickly understand where the knowledge gaps are in their teams and therefore make fast and effective business decisions.

“QuizJam for Teams can dramatically improve the retention of workplace training,” Steel says.

“The platform enables you to very quickly and simply create fun and engaging booster events, which is proven to increase the retention of the training and therefore the ROI,” he says. “Companies get access to live reports and analytics and can use this data to implement programs and to remedy any shortfalls.”
