Push to Talk lets you assign a key on your keyboard as a mute switch for your Mac’s mic.
Push to Talk serves as a ‘cough switch’ for your Mac.
The idea is simple. When engaged in an audio chat over Skype or FaceTime there will be times when you wish to quickly mute your microphone – when you need to sneeze or the kids charge into the room. Push to Talk allows you to do this by assigning a key that either you press to engage the microphone (like a walkie-talkie) or toggle the microphone on and off.
It works well with the Mac’s built-in microphone but, regrettably, not with external USB mics.
