App Guide

If you’ve ever planned a major holiday you’ll know that there are hundreds of tiny details that make it all work smoothly. It’s not just about booking some flights and accommodation – you also have car rentals, tickets for attractions, entry times for specific activities and myriad other tiny details. Knapsack gives you a single app for bringing all of that together.

Integrated with maps from OpenStreetMap, Knapsack makes it easy to plan a trip. We started by creating a 10-day work trip to San Francisco for an upcoming conference. We were able to schedule specific activities for each day and create a To Do list so that we could complete any preparatory tasks that were needed, such as getting visas, booking tickets and planning particular meetings.

The application is easy to use, although we’d have liked to be able to right click to add locations to our trip rather than dropping pushpins. Also, although OpenStreetMap is fine for providing basic information, there’s no equivalent to Google’s Street View.

When you add specific events to each day of your trip, you can allocate start and end times to keep you on schedule. You can also rate trips and activities for later reference.
