App Guide

A reader, Peter, has emailed us about a classified advertising app he’s been using and wanted to recommend. Some noteworthy features he pointed out are that it’s location-based, free to advertise and the process of placing an ad is way simpler than eBay. So we thought we’d take iBuyWeSell for a test drive.

A similar concept to Trading Post online, iBuyWeSell basically does what the app title says. You can search for products ‘around me’, choosing a radius of between 1km and 10 km, or search by categories such as Automotive, Electronics, Leisure & Hobbies and Tools. It also shows you recent searches and popular searches. Once you have picked a category, it narrows down other options and lets you reorder your search results by date, price and location. When you have found a product of interest you can ‘tip a friend’ the product by email, SMS, Twitter or Facebook, or add the product to your favourites to view later. If you are interested in a product you can request contact from the seller via email or phone.

The best part of this app is that you can sell things by creating your own ad directly from your iOS device. Set up an ad, publish it for free and share it on Facebook. The only fee you pay is to receive the contact information of buyers interested in your ad – see www.ibuywesellcom/fees.

Great summary, just some clarity on the fees, right now the app is still in Beta and new updates are on there way, iBuyWeSell does not charge any fees at this point.
