Educe is a unique word game that will build your vocabulary, fire those synapses and get your brain all in a twist. More than just a word search, puzzle or crossword, Educe is all about building new words within and around other words.

“Shrink was a popular word for a psychiatrist when I first started out and yet what we do is quite the opposite. We try to broaden the landscape of people’s minds – to draw out the potential, to educe. To me, psychiatrists are not shrinks, we are educers, just without the point stealing.”

Rod Smith – psychiatrist, wordsmith and app creator

How it works

Kick off the game with a three-letter word and then start stealing words from other players by adding letters to the beginning, middle and end of their words. The trick is, all the original letters must remain in the same order. Each time a word is stolen, the number of points goes up.

Watch how the words grow and change as they bounce back and forth between players:

  • Sad – Player 1 begins
  • Sand – Player 2 adds ‘n’
  • Stand – Player 3 adds ‘t’
  • Understand – Player 1 adds ‘Under’
  • Understanding – Player 2 adds ‘ing’
  • Misunderstanding – Player 3 adds ‘Mis’
  • Misunderstandings – Player 1 adds ‘s’ to steal the word back and lock it away for good.

Play against 1, 2 or 3 players and move up through the levels from bandit to mastermind.
