Thinking about heading to the movies? The questions are always: ‘What is on?’ ‘When?’ And ‘is it worth watching?’

Australian developer Andrew Plummer’s Cinemate app is a simple, easy to use solution for movie-seeking iPhone users. After getting your location, the free app searches for the closest cinemas to you and lists the movies available to you.

The home screen layout is sleek, offering the day’s session times and reviewer ratings. The app uses details from movie site, Rotten Tomatoes, showing both the critics’ and the audience ratings.

Clicking on a movie from the home screen gives you a greater insight into the film. The movie’s length, genre and age rating is listed, alongside a brief synopsis of the film. Reviewers’ quotes are included, movie screening times are broken down by cinema and a link to the movie trailer is added in case you need a little more help deciding which flick to see.

Cinemate is a free offering that will be a useful addition to your iPhone. If you are a movie fan, or thinking about how you will spend a rainy afternoon, Cinemate will quickly and sleekly show you what’s on near you.
