This is big – Woolworths Limited have updated the BIG W app for iOS, and it’s the first ever app in Australia that delivers fully transactional shopping, and even includes an option for layby.
The BIG W app was launched simultaneously with Big W’s Giant Toy Spectacular online, and marked the beginning of a shopping period that will be one of the busiest for retailers. A number of toy sales are currently launching throughout the country, with over 3.5 million toys, games, DVDs and gaming products expected to sell through Big W alone in the next fortnight.
The app has a very clean, attractive and easy-to-use interface. When launched, it gives you the option to find a store, browse products, have a look at the current catalogues, create your own personal shopping list, or use the barcode scanner to search for products available in-store.
The store finder produces accurate results based on your suburb, postcode or current location, complete with a map, phone number and opening hours.
Current catalogues are smooth to navigate, and include an extremely convenient ‘view products’ option that then lists the products available in the catalogue by page order.
All of the products available at Big W are now categorised neatly into groups, which makes it easy to locate different types of products, if you opt not to use the app’s product finder feature.
When viewing a product, you can add it to your shopping list, rate the item, find the closest store that stocks it and check the estimated delivery cost. As expected with almost all apps nowadays, there’s also built-in social network integration, as well as an option to email share. This’ll come in handy around birthdays and holiday seasons!
After you’ve added an item to your cart and are ready to buy it, the app directs you to make your purchase in four easy steps.
One of the newest additions to the BIG W app is the barcode scanner. The scanner can tell you the price of any product available in Big W outlets, whether it’s available for online purchase and if it’s in stock or not. I trialled the barcode scanner with a number of products around the office, including a notebook, which it recognised almost immediately. This is an impressive feature that does what it says and does it well.
Big W’s new-version app contains useful and convenient built-in features that will make your life and shopping experiences much easier.
